When you hire Farmers & Fletchers In the City as a venue for your event, it’s good to know that any profit we make is for a real purpose. Surplus profit goes to a wide range of charities that help to develop skills in the farming industry – especially in the areas of leadership and management.
Supporting farming
With the surplus profit from the hire of our hall supporting farming and food production education, grants and awards, we’re able to provide substantial and much-needed financial help for students of specialised educational courses. With our help they’re able to widen their experience and gain the critical skills they’ll need in the future.
Flagship courses
More than 1,600 delegates have completed the two flagship courses we support at the Royal Agricultural University and the Duchy College in Cornwall since they first began in 1963. Many now hold very senior positions in the farming world.
The Worshipful Company of Farmers highlights…
- Promoting and supporting the three-week advanced course in agricultural business management run at the Royal Agricultural University in Cirencester
- Promoting and supporting the two-week challenge of rural leadership course run at the Duchy College in Cornwall
- Supporting the National Federation of Young Farmers’ Club bi-annual scholarship
- Supporting the Surrey Docks Farm – a working charitable city farm in the heart of London where people learn about and get involved in farming and food production
- Contributing to the annual award of cash prizes to some twelve outstanding agricultural students at colleges around the UK
- Sponsoring a Nuffield scholarship that allows outstanding students to travel, gain international work experience and understand agriculture in its widest global context
- Working with fifty other charities to support the industry as a member of the Agri-Food Charities Partnership
In addition the members of the Worshipful Company of Fletchers, through the Fletchers’ Trust charity, support many different archery-related projects with a particular focus on archery for the disabled be it creating greater access for grass root activity through encouraging regional and national inclusive competitions and not forgetting helping our international disabled archers competing at World and Paralympic level.
