Gin Cocktail Competition Winner

We are delighted to announce that Peta Clifton is the winner of our Gin Cocktail Competition. The judges had a most enjoyable evening when they tasted all of the entries not just once, but in some cases several times and proclaimed Peta’s ‘Plough and Arrow’ cocktail the winner. The cocktail is beautifully illustrated above and is a very palatable blend of gin, redcurrants made into syrup, elderflower cordial freshly squeezed lemon juice with basil as a botanical.
We asked Peta if there is a story behind her gin cocktail, a reason why it is important to her, this was her response “Put together a Herefordshire farmer who is passionate about the provenance of local food and a chef who lives on the farm (whose surname happens to be ‘Fletcher’) and cooks amazing meals for our holiday let guests and a challenge like this was too tempting to ignore.”

When it comes to food provenance Peta shares our passion, she goes on to say, “with the exception of the lemons, all the ingredients for our cocktail are grown on the farm or produced in Herefordshire – something we are very proud of. On the catering side of our business, we see increasing numbers of food intolerances. So, with this trend in mind, this is our take on debit and credit drinking; gluten free and full of anti-oxidants (there is more vitamin C in redcurrants than oranges for instance), so you can persuade yourself of the health benefits whilst still enjoying the alcohol.

Oh, and it tastes great and looks fantastic too (actually, the most special bit to us)”.

We wholeheartedly agree which is why Peta is a very worthy winner and as such her cocktail will feature on our menu and she has also won a trip to the City of London distillery where she will create her own bottle of gin. Excited to try the recipe for yourself then simply follow the link below.
