A recent successful event held in the Court Room was a lunch for 16 members of the 75 Club, a private dining club set up in the 1950’s for agricultural guidance and includes farmers from around the country and overseas.
Matt Swain is responsible for selecting the venues for the members’ lunches, which take place at a variety of locations and top London restaurants.
He said: “Our chairman, Stephen Watkins, suggested we take a look at Farmers & Fletchers in the City because of its reputation and the obvious connection with the British farming community.
“Our members have dined at some excellent restaurants in London and abroad and am pleased to report that our recent experience at Farmers & Fletchers in the City was certainly in line with this expectation. We were very pleased with not only the quality of the food and its presentation, but the professional service experienced in using the Court Room.
“Farmers & Fletchers in the City is such a convenient location just a couple of minutes walk from Barbican tube. It was easy to work with the team and they could not have been more helpful from helping select the menu and providing wine suggestions, to the professional service we received on the day. Our members were delighted and Farmers & Fletchers in the City is certainly somewhere I would recommend.”
75 Club members enjoyed a starter of smoked haddock “kedgeree” terrine with egg and watercress salad and herb mayonnaise. The main course was roast loin of lamb with sweet garlic, black pudding, pressed potatoes, celeriac purée and shredded savoy cabbage with a redcurrant and rosemary sauce. The main course was followed by a rich chocolate mousse with caramel, bitter chocolate sauce and crème fraîche. The wines selected to accompany the meal were Turning Heads Sauvignon Blanc 2016 Marlborough, New Zealand and Cotes du Rhone Francois Arnaud 2014 South Rhone Valley, France.
